Factory-Direct Nine-Steam Huangjing Tea: OEM Supply from a 1,000-Acre Mountain Base

Every buyer sourcing herbal wellness products runs into the same problem: the words “nine-steam, nine-sun-dry” appear on a great many labels, but very few suppliers can show you the base, the plant, or the process behind them. For importers, distributors and private-label brands, that gap between marketing language and verifiable production is where margin and reputation are lost.

Maorun Health (Lishui) Biotechnology Co., Ltd. was built to close that gap. Founded in August 2022 in Suichang County, Zhejiang Province, we are a forestry-industry enterprise that owns the nursery, the standardized planting base, the processing plant and the sales channel — all four links in one chain. Our focus is Huangjing (Polygonatum), a food-grade botanical with deep roots in Chinese daily nutrition, and our output covers ready-to-eat nine-processed Huangjing, Huangjing tea and Huangjing wine.

What We Actually Make: Three Product Lines, One Raw Material

Our range is deliberately narrow. Instead of spreading across dozens of herbs, we concentrate on a single species and process it in three directions:

1. Ready-to-eat nine-processed Huangjing. Selected mountain-origin roots are steamed and sun-dried across nine cycles, then allowed to ferment naturally. No additives are used at any stage. The result is a soft, dark, chewy product built on non-starch polysaccharides, with a mellow, aromatic taste that stands far apart from the raw, starchy texture most buyers associate with conventional Huangjing.

2. Huangjing tea. Formulated for daily brewing, prepared with the same traditional nine-steam, nine-sun-dry method. In Chinese food tradition this infusion is associated with supporting digestion and stomach comfort, and with nourishing the kidneys and moistening the lungs — positioning that resonates strongly with wellness-oriented consumers across Asia and with Asian diaspora communities worldwide.

3. Huangjing wine. An extension of the same raw material into the traditional alcoholic-beverage and gifting category, giving distributors a way to build a coherent shelf set around one recognizable ingredient rather than a scattering of unrelated SKUs.

Because all three lines draw on the same base and the same processing philosophy, a buyer can assemble a complete Huangjing program — tea for daily consumption, ready-to-eat product for snacking and functional use, wine for gifting — without managing three separate supply chains.

Inside the Box: A Retail-Ready Format

Our current product photography shows the gift-box presentation in detail. The outer carrier is a deep olive-green rigid box with a ribbon handle and gold foil lettering, carrying our round gold “mr” emblem and the bilingual product name. Inside, the lid lifts away to reveal the product packed in individually sealed golden sachets, arranged in tidy, symmetrical rows within a fitted insert, with the inner lid finished in the same green tone.

For buyers, this format does specific commercial work:

  • Shelf presence. The restrained green-and-gold palette reads as premium without looking medicinal, which suits tea shops, health-food retail, pharmacy wellness corners and hotel amenity programs.
  • Portion control and freshness. Individually sealed sachets protect aroma and moisture, and let consumers brew one portion at a time — a meaningful advantage in markets where large loose-leaf packs deter trial.
  • Gifting logic. The rigid outer box with handle is designed for hand-carry gifting, a major purchase occasion for Huangjing in East Asian markets and a growing one in overseas Chinese communities.

Box structure, print and inner tray configuration can be discussed with your team as part of a private-label or OEM conversation.

The Craft: Why Nine Cycles Matter

The traditional nine-steam, nine-sun-dry process is not decoration — it is the technology. Raw Huangjing is dense and starchy; poorly processed material tastes flat and loses much of what makes it interesting. Our core technical work has been the improvement of this heritage nine-steam, nine-sun-dry method, which addresses the two classic pain points of conventional Huangjing processing: poor mouthfeel and nutrient loss during treatment.

Combined with natural fermentation and a strict no-additive policy, the process produces a product built around non-starch polysaccharides, with the distinct mellow aroma and clean finish that repeat buyers look for. And because we control the base, the process is repeatable — batch after batch, season after season.

Mountain Origin: Where the Raw Material Comes From

Our material is sourced from the Bai Ma Shan (White Horse Mountain) area at elevations above 1,000 meters, a forest environment in Lishui, Zhejiang, known for clean air, cool nights and slow plant growth. We operate a 1,000 mu core planting base and work with a further 5,000 mu of cooperative planting area, and we maintain a quality traceability system covering everything from seed-source selection through to harvest — the foundation of the genuine-origin claim we make to our customers.

Processing takes place in a 2,000 square meter modern standard factory with automated production lines for ready-to-eat nine-processed Huangjing, Huangjing tea and Huangjing wine, with an annual processing capacity of 500 tons. Our products hold SC certification and organic certification.

A Model That Holds Up Under Audit

We work on a company + cooperative + base + farmer model, supporting surrounding farming households in cultivating Huangjing while retaining central control over seed stock, agronomy standards and processing. For overseas buyers, this arrangement has practical value: it stabilizes raw-material supply, keeps quality consistent across the cooperative area, and gives your sourcing team a supply story that is genuinely defensible when retail partners ask questions about origin and social impact.

Over the next three years our development plan focuses on functional food R&D around Huangjing and on extending the value chain, with the goal of becoming a leading regional brand in the Huangjing industry.

Where These Products Sell

Our lines suit several distinct channels: specialty tea and herbal retailers; health-food and supplement chains; pharmacy wellness sections; gift and festival hamper programs; hotel and airline amenity suppliers; and e-commerce brands building a Chinese wellness assortment. Distributors frequently start with the tea and the ready-to-eat product, then add the wine once the ingredient has proven itself with their customers.

For importers pursuing a private-label or OEM route, the combination of an owned base, an in-house plant and a documented process means specification conversations start from a real production line rather than a trading desk.

Industry Insight: The Buyer's Checklist

The global interest in traditional botanicals is rising, but so is regulatory scrutiny and consumer skepticism. Three questions separate serious suppliers from the rest. First, origin: can the supplier name the growing area and trace a batch back to it? Second, process: is the nine-steam claim backed by an actual production method and a facility you can describe? Third, compliance: does the supplier hold the food-safety and organic documentation your market requires, and can they support your labeling needs?

We are comfortable being measured against all three. We also recommend that buyers confirm how product claims must be worded in their own jurisdiction — traditional food associations and permitted wording differ by market, and we are glad to align specification and labeling with your requirements during the quotation stage.
